Attaching a round base.

Attaching a round base.

(Use in conjunction with The Monroe pattern)

Pin or clip the base to the main panels following the instructions in the pattern. Use a zipper foot, backstitch at each of the four points on the base. This will help hold it in place while sewing the base to the main panel.

When sewing around the base, I place my hand inside the main panels to help hold it in place and ease it back in if it slips. Be careful to not sew through your finger while doing this.

If you get any puckers, use the seam ripper to undo the stitching in that area, smooth the fabric and stitch again. Trim seam allowance down to 1/4 inch.
