To be used in conjunction with the Nelly Tote pattern.
Place Zipper face down between the main panel and hidden pocket lining, pin in place, making sure the open end is in line with where the zipper closes. You don’t want there to be an opening after the zipper closes when the pocket is complete.
The picture below shows where I have placed the zipper, you can always use a longer zipper and move it higher to keep the metal stopper out-of-the-way of any further stitching.
Stitch the zipper in place between the pocket lining and main panel.
Pin the other side of the zipper to the gusset, keeping the slip pocket out of the way. Stitch zipper at 1/4 inch seam to gusset.
Pin pocket lining piece to zipper side that is stitched to the gusset using the pic below as a guide.
Stitch in place with a 1/4 inch seam.
Topstitch along both pocket lining pieces as shown below.
Stitch pocket lining pieces together as per instructions in the Nelly Tote pattern. Trim any excess zipper.
Attach gusset as per instructions in the Nelly Tote pattern.
